Start and Finish
The start and finish is at King George Oval, Rozelle which is just next to the Iron Cove Bridge. Free parking is available at the car park in Manning Street and the surrounding residential streets.
The event timing for the Balmain Fun Run is being managed by The Timing Guys . The Timing Guys are a national sports event timing company that specialise in timing, scoring and related data services.
You’ll be provided with an electronic timing chip when you pick up your race kit prior to the start of the race. The electronic timing chip is a small computerised chip that you need to tie into your shoe laces. It registers the time you cross the start and finish lines to calculate your race time. The chip is only loaned to you for the race and must be returned in the Recovery Area at the completion of the race.

The 2 kilometre event will start at 8.00 and is open to primary school aged children only (up to and including year 6). Parents are of course welcome to run with their children if the child is nervous and do not need to enter separately. Although the winners will no doubt be running as quickly as they can, the idea of the event is to encourage all children to take part and to walk or run to the best of their ability.
A map of the course can be seen by clicking here. There is a rise when you first leave the oval and a small rise just before you re-enter the oval but otherwise the course is downhill or flat. There is no drink stop on the course. The course is run in a clockwise direction.
There will be a cut off time of 30 minutes to allow the 5 and 10 kms runs to start but we will do everything we can to ensure that people finishing after this time still have their results recorded. Children should be able to walk the 2 kms distance within the time limit.

Both the 5 and 10 kms events start at 8.30. The 10 kms run will comprise two laps of the 5 kms course which can be seen here. There will be a cut off time of 1.5 hours for both the 5 kms and the 10 kms to allow results processing to start. We will do everything we can to ensure that people finishing after this time still have their results recorded. People should be able to walk the 5 kms distance within the time available.

Drink stops will be at 2.5 kms, 5 kms and 7.5 kms.

All competitors are entered automatically in the open category (male and female) in all events.
